Okoli enajstih

(or Around 11am)

Prespala sem današnje jutro, ker me tudi danes mobitel ni zbudil.
(bolje rečeno) novo poglavje v knjigi I love you ;) avtorjev Williama in Catherine.

Eng: I overslept this morning, because my alarm clock on my cellphone didn't ring - again. Sometimes it just doesn't ring and when I turn it on, it says we are on the 1/1/2008. And I always say to myself: "I guess I just needed these few hours of extra sleep" or "It's obviously time for a new beginning".:) I am having many new beginnings a year ;).
There was another special new beginning or (better said) a new chapter in a book named I love you by William and Catherine. :) I have joined millions in front of television for an hour to see a little bit of glamour of their wedding day. I wish them a happy marriage.

Today is my 1/1/2008 around eleven o'clock in the morning and it is definitely time for some sort of new beginning. To beautiful beginnings! ;)

Imejte čudovit vikend poln ljubezni! ;)

Eng: I wish you all a great weeked full of love! ;)

Na obali. Prvič letos.

(or At the seaside. The first time this year.)

Eng: The most exciting moment of first ride to the seaside after a long winter is a moment, when you open the door of a car and you get to smell the sea. This scent relaxes me so much, it bring back so many memories of careless moments, good food and company. Scents of rosemary from the neighbor's garden, salt from the sea and the Sunmix sun cream, which is a synonym for the sea from my childhood days, since that was the sun cream we used all the time. When the winter is at its peak, I sometimes still open this sun cream and put it on my arm - because it smells like summertime. :)

The photos were made on the walk by the seaside, there were so many people here during the holidays. It was the first time this year that I stood barefoot in the sand and stepped into the sea (sending my footstep all around the world and my sister did the same thing with my name :) ), enjoyed the "sea" sun and the sound of the waves.

Eng: I hoped you had a nice and peaceful Easter. And I wish you a nice day today as well. :)

Medicinsko-humanitarna odprava Zambija 2011

(or Medical humanitarian mission Zambia 2011)

Študentje zadnjih letnikov medicine (Karla, Mojca in Nina) in Zdravstvene fakultete (Nataša in Matej) odpravo načrtujejo v okviru Sekcije za tropsko medicino pod okriljem Medicinske fakultete v Ljubljani.

Kljub napornemu urniku, so me pričakali polni energije in idej. V parih mesecih so že razvili svoj "jezik" in svoje hece. Dobijo se vsak teden, imajo razdeljene naloge, zelo dobro so organizirani in imajo jasne cilje. To precej prispeva k pozitivni naravnanosti skupine, kljub temu da jih čaka še veliko dela z organiziranjem najbližjih dveh projektov, s katerima bodo zbirali denarna sredstva. Projekta, o katerih govorim sta:

Eng: Nina Kravanja, Mojca Bizjak, Karla Berlec (students of Faculty of Medicine), Nataša Pekolj and Matej Lunder (students of Faculty of Health Sciences) are members of a group that is gonig to Zambia this fall for three months. They are gonig to a village Nangoma, where they will try to do their best to help the locals in their hospital. They are planning the mission with the help of Medical Faculty (Departement of tropical medicine). They have met for the firts time in January and ever since they are very enthusiasticly peaparing all sortf of events to help raise the money they need to buy medical supplies and medicines.

They have all attended the so called "tropical weekend", where they got even more detailed and specific knowledge about tropical medicine. This photo session took time at the end of the "tropical weekend" and although their schedule was really busy, they were full of energy when I arrived. Dynamics of this group is unbelievable. In few months time they have developed their own "language", their own jokes. They meet every week, they are well organised and aware of their goals and duties. This surely helps and fills the group with all the energy that they need to complete their projects, which will help them raise the money they need. The projects I'm talking about are:

- May 7th: LOTTERY on Ilirija miting. And all the tickes are winning. :)

- June 2nd: Concert in wordly cafe Sputnik in Vič, where slovenian musicians will help them with raising the money.

They have also send hundreds od letters to slovenian companies, have sold home-made Valentines's day cards, they have just send T-shirts to print and are preaparing a big auction of jerseya of important slovenian athletes. They have no lack of ideas and I truly believe that they will succed in raising the money.
They website is not yet made. But you can show them your support with pressing the I like button on their Facebook profile and of course with attending the lottery on Ilirija miting and visiting the concert. :)

Dopoldanski užitki

(or Morning delights)

Razvajanje.

Eng: Enyoing. A green tea from places far away with a taste of roses, peach and mango. Words from this book or another, words from this magazine or another. Silence. A cookie.
When I first took a sip of a green tea few years ago I wrote a thouhgt, that went sometnig like this. In this very moment I understand what it means to "have a moment for myself", to enjoy in every single moment that last and passes into the next one with all its intensity, without ever really stopping in beetween in all its grace. Sitting on a couch, drinking green tea. Reading. Having a possibility to learn, having a morning for myself, being in peace.

Moments, in which the gratitude is the only right word. Because I am grateful for all amazing people, trust, good books, job-to-be (being a photographer :) ), honesty, green tea and time for myself. :)

Želim vam čudovit dan, v katerem boste našli svoj trenutek tišine. :)

Eng: I wish you all a beautiful day, in which you'll be able to find a moment just for yourself. :)

Čoln in vrba

(or A boat and a Willow tree)

Eng: These two photos were also made on the shore of Ljubljanica river. The wind was blowing a bit and Willow tree was dancing on the notes of wind. I wanted the photo to be the same: soft and gentle. The light was gorgeous. I always look for the light of the sunset and it's warm glow that comes when the Sun is setting.

Willow tree is a tree that remindes me of my childhood. I think of this tree as my "own" :). We often played under the Willow tree, witch grew on the opposite side of the road from our garden. Before they cut the branches (it was just beside the road) and they were as long as they could get, she danced, when the wind was blowing. I could watch her form our house. This tree always seemed so strong and wise to me. Just like that Willow tree in Disney's Pocahontas - the wise old grandmother, that gives advices (and dances) :).

Ljubljana: Mojca + Marko

To lokacijo sta želela obarvati z "when we were students" filingom :).

Mojca in Marko sta se spoznala v svojih študentskih letih.

Eng: We arranged the engagement photossesion through email. They have seen my work on my blog and decided that they want to have a photosession with me. We started at Metelkova city, where they used to hang out in their student years.

Mojca and Marko when they were still both going to collage. Marko used to have big parties for his birthdays and one acquaintance of his invited Mojca to come with her so they "crashed" to the party and stayed there until the morning. Mojca and Marko met during the party and at goodbye Mojca said something that resonated with Marko in such a special way, because she said it with such sexy vibe. She said: "We should do that again."
And they did. They went on an ice cream, when a woman approached them offering them a role in commercial next Sunday. Marko said no, Mojca said yes. Marko (thought again) said yes. :) So they had all Sunday to spent time together, talk and do cute things - like falling in looove. :)

And previous Sunday wasn't so different. They were both in front of camera, spending time together, talking and donig cute things - making their love even stronger. :) I have enjoyed each minute spent with them.

Res uživam, ko se moji pari popolnoma prepustijo trenutku in se imajo radi ter počnejo vse tiste lepe in ljubke stvari :).

Eng: It was so nice to see them laughing and having a great time. I love, when my couples let themselves go and enjoy the moments doing cute things ;)

Po kratkem premoru in zamenjavi oblačil smo nadaljevali fotosešn. Lovili smo sonce, ker resnično obožujem svetlobo zahajajočega sonca. Ljubezen z njegovo pomočjo le še bolj žari :).

Eng: After a shor brake and changing their clothes we continued the photosession. We were chasing the sun, because I really love the light of the sunset.

Both looking gorgeous!

Imeli smo čudovit dan. Hvala vama za zaupanje in vse nasmehe :).

Eng: We had the most wonderful day. Thank you both for your trust and smiles. If you want to see more photos click here for a SLIDESHOW.

Holga: Portreta

(or Holga: Two portraits)

Enostavno imam rada Holgo. Love it! Film, ki sem ga uporabila je bil Lomography black and white film ISO 100. Naslednji bo barvni in komaj čakam, da vidim, kakšni posnetki bodo uspeli.

Eng: I just love my Holga! This is my second film I have shoot with it and now I already know, who to work with this small piece of plastic, so that the frames aren't overlaping eachother :). (It was totaly my fault the previous time. ;)) These two shoots I made on that crazy-wonderful photosession I've had with Barbara. There is a double exposure on the first frame and on the second I caught her smile. Love it! The film used is Lomography black and white film ISO 100. The next one will be color film and I can't wait to see the outcome.

Imejte lep, lep četrtek!

Eng: I wish you all a wondeful Thursday!

Coming soon: Mojca + Marko

Jaz imam to čast, da bom njuna poročna fotografija (juuhej!). Resnično se veselim tiste sobote, ker sta enostavno čudovita, sproščena, polna pozitivne energije in they thought I was fun to be around ;).

Več fotografij pa: they're coming soon ;).

Eng: I had a pleasure to spent Sunday's afternoon in a company with Mojca and Marko. We had a super-cute engagemnet photosession and I also have an honour to be their wedding photographer on May 28th. Super exited! I am really looking forward to that Saturday, because they are such a wonderful, relaxed couple, full of great energy and they thought I was fun to be
around ;).

We aranged the engagement sesssin through mail and met at Metelkova city, where they have spent many beautiful moments togehter. We went to Trnovska beach afterwards and finised the session at Koseški bajer. And other photos are coming soon ;).

Tips & Tricks: Odsevi sonca

(or Tips & Tricks: Sun's reflections)

Sama najraje delam z naravno svetlobo.

Eng: I really like to share my knowledge, if I only can. And internet is a really good space, where I can do that. Tips & tricks is a category, in which I will post my view on photographing. I honestly hope, that this tips will help somebody and make it possible for him/her to develop his/her style even more. And the only way I can help is by explainig my own photographic style. :)

For those of you, who follow my blog, you surely remeber Ida. We met two weeks ago and had a wonderful time, made some beautiful portraits. And this are the only two photos in which she is not laughing out loud :).

The photos were made on the steps of Hercules fountain in Stari trg. We were going to Trnovo, when I saw that the light infront of the fountain was slightly different. It was 4 pm and the sun was still pretty high. The light in the ally was beautiful, but I wanted to highlight her sprakling blue eyes. I paid attencion to the light and saw that the sun is reflecting in the windows on the right and and the sun's light in the windows is reflecting on the ground infront of the fountain. And this light is again reflecting upwards. I knew, that if I ask Ida to sit there, I will have the light that is coming from the ground and will lit her face beautifully. And this is how I got (even more) sun into her eyes. :)

I love to work wit natural light. And the reflection on the ground made it possible to get differently lit face in that ally. And in this case I had to find a reflection of the sun on the ground.

I hope you have even bigger wish to search for the "perfect" light for your portraits. :)

Nastavitve (zgornja fotografija) / Settings (the photo above): 1/1600s, f/ 2.2, ISO 200

My very own all *

To je nauk za danes! ;)

Eng: And I have them! My very own All star sneakers. This post is a short continuation of a post I'we written a while ago
titled About steps.

And now I can make a few steps on my dream-job path in these little shoes. The reason why the sneakers are on a wooden table is that I've got blisters walking in them for the first time. I gave my feet a short rest, put the sneakers on again and continued the walk. Well, it's not always easy to walk "on the path that you've choosen", but if you really want to, there is nothing that can stop you. ;)

This is today's lesson. ;)

Skupaj.

(or Together.)

Nekatere stvari me res ganejo.
Njo ob njem. Skupaj.

Eng: There are some things that really move me. And something like this happened on Friday late at night. We got together on Friday to celebrate my friend's birthday. For me the evening was coming to an end around 1 am, then I drove my friends to their homes and just before I took the last friend home I got a call, that my father is in the ER, because he hurt his knee. My sister was already on her way to ER and after I got the call I hurried there myself.
Then we waited together that he was accepted, examined, bandaged and sent home. In the meantime - it was almost 2 am - an old couple arrived to ER. He was lying on a hospital bed, she was besides him. She stood there, and every once in a while covered him with a blanket, making small changes and listening him breathing. She was with him. When she sat on the bench, she sat turning her body towards the hospital bed of her husband, looking at him with nice, slightly tired eyes.
I thought to myself: they have so many memories and years behind them. I wondered how their story started, when it was the fisrt time they hold eachother hands, when they decided to spend they life together.
Although I didn't have the opportunity to see them together in their carefree moments, I saw them together. After so may years. Together.

Zgornja fotografija je nastala nekaj ur pred opisanim dogodkom. Zgodba, ki se pravzaprav šele začenja. :)
Želim vam lep dan!

Eng: This photo was made few hours before the described event. A story which is really just beggining. :)
I wish you all a wonderful day!

Ida Plevnik

In sva se dobili.

In Facebook RULS! ;)

Eng: I know how strange is to hear this from me, but Facebook is great :). I have hesitated for a long time, before I have finally (after at least seventeen questions "Iva, do you have a FB profile?" ;)) made my own profile. As you all know people can write messages on your wall, say hi, leave private messages, you can share videos, connections and photos.
And it wasn't long before I got a message for my acquaintance of many years. We picked the date quickly and met for a coffee in old part of Ljubljana. We have known eachother for almost 10 years, but never before got together for a proper coffee or talk, althought the feeling was always "she's a nice girl" :).
So we met. It was another sunny day in Ljubljana, the energy was great, the talk honest, fun, dynamic and Ida was wonderful. :) It felt like we have been friends for a very long time, although the friendship have just started off that day.
Ida is in her final year in faculty and she also sing mezzosopran in choir of Slovene National Theatre Opera and Balet. Can't wait to hear her sing one day.

Below two photos I made that day. We went for a walk after the coffee and had so much fun. A beautiful day and a beautiful memory. And Facebook (obviously) RULS ;)!
